Perimeter protection

EMDION advises you individually on all aspects of perimeter protection for seamless monitoring of your outdoor facilities. By combining camera systems and sensors, a high level of security can be guaranteed even in the dark and in the most adverse weather conditions. In addition, our experts reduce the false alarm rate to a minimum using various detection methods. In this way, intruders can be distinguished from harmless creatures and appropriate countermeasures, such as the use of a public address system or light animations, can be triggered. In addition, notification by SMS, e-mail or direct connection to the police or security service can be integrated.

Security through perimeter protection

Seamless fence monitoring, combined with other security systems, results in a high level of security for your outdoor facilities.

GROUND DETECTION: GROUND DETECTION IS A SECURITY TECHNOLOGY THAT RELIABLY DETECTS UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS AND PRESERVES THE APPEARANCE OF YOUR PROPERTY

Ground detection involves flexible mats that can be laid in the ground and consist of fiber optic cables at their core. Light is sent through the mat via an evaluation unit and the delta between the amount of light emitted and received is evaluated. Both a decrease and an increase in this amount of light are measured. If this change is within a certain time window (ms) as well as within a predefined significant level (threshold value), an alarm is generated. The dynamic threshold value adjustment prevents a slow change in the amount of light (e.g. snowfall) from triggering an alarm.

We supply the detection mats in various lengths from 0.5 m to 7.5 m with a standard width of 1.20 m. We also customize the mats for special applications to meet the respective requirements. This is very often necessary when securing roof terraces, entrances, access gates and historic buildings. The structure of the detection mats provides excellent protection against damage. Despite this, their height is just 1.7 or 5 mm and they can be used both indoors and outdoors. The installation depth of the detection mats outdoors is between 3 and 9 cm, depending on the chosen application.

The floor detector mats can also be used under the influence of high-voltage systems, radar or microwaves. They are absolutely insensitive to electromagnetic interference such as thunderstorms or electromagnetic pulses as well as electrostatic discharges. Several mats with their evaluation units can be combined to form an intelligent bus system.

FENCE SENSORS: DIGITAL FENCE DETECTION ALREADY DETECTS AT THE PROPERTY BOUNDARY

The digital fence sensor system reliably triggers an alarm as soon as attempts are made to cut, climb over or tamper with the fence. This form of fence detection consists of a sensor cable that is attached to a fence with special cable ties and one or more evaluation units (digital processor module). By intelligently measuring the transit time of the signal, the processor module recognizes with pinpoint accuracy (+/-3m) where the attempted break-in has just taken place. This technology also filters out disruptive environmental influences such as wind.

Depending on the perimeter to be secured or the security concept, different alarm zones can be created, which limit and facilitate the assignment of alarms in the respective fence route. In combination with a video surveillance system for verification, it is possible to automatically approach the defined alarm zones with pan/tilt/zoom cameras (PTZ) and display events. This makes it much easier for plant security or security service providers to track alarms.

Up to 600 m of sensor cable (≙ approx. 570 m fence length) can be connected per processor module and, depending on the processor type, 4 or 60 alarm zones can be created. As a rule, the fence layout, the security concept and the layout of the camera positions determine how many alarm zones are created.

The sensor cable can be attached to many different types of fence. However, it is mostly used for mesh, expanded metal and bar fences. A good and stable condition of the fence is a basic requirement. An armored sensor cable is available for barbed wire, NATO wire or places where the sensor cable can be mechanically damaged.

MICROWAVE LIGHT BARRIERS: PERIMETER PROTECTION USING MICROWAVE LIGHT BARRIERS IS A RELIABLE SYSTEM FOR LONG RANGES

Perimeter protection using microwave light barriers involves systems with very long ranges, with the usual detectors having a range of 50 to 200 meters. A detector unit usually consists of a transmitter and a receiver installed opposite each other. An invisible electromagnetic field is formed between these two units, which causes a detection and alarm generation in the event of a change – such as a person passing by. To correctly interpret the field disturbance, the speed of movement and the volume of the triggering object must be evaluated. Animals, for example, can also be filtered in order to avoid so-called false alarms. Long straight sections are optimally protected with the help of this system. However, the microwave photoelectric sensors can only build up their full power after a few meters because the elliptical magnetic fields near the transmitter or receiver have a small diameter. To prevent them from creeping underneath, they must therefore be arranged so that they overlap in the corners.

Microwave photoelectric sensors have been used reliably for many years in the field of perimeter protection. Thanks to the use of high-quality components, this safety technology can be used for a wide range of applications and guarantees low-disturbance monitoring.

LASER: WITH LIDAR TECHNOLOGY

The laser is an optical sensor that uses a precisely focused beam of light to very accurately define the distances and positions of objects in the detection field. For this purpose, the surroundings are scanned two-dimensionally (three-dimensionally in LIDAR) and the exact position is determined by calculating the time of flight of the light beam reflected by the detected object. The exact speed of movement of an object can also be determined. Two-dimensional laser sensors generate a light curtain by means of a rotating head, while LIDAR sensors monitor a volume field and are therefore also able to provide a higher spatial and depth resolution. There are no gaps or differences in detection performance at close or long range.

The monitoring range of the laser sensors we use is between 95° and 190°. They have an anti-masking function and analysis functions for detecting the size, speed and distance of the object. Different alarm zones can be defined across the entire detection field, each of which can be independently adjusted to different target types (people or vehicles). Different zones can also be set up for pre-alarm and main alarm. Defined detection zones can also be blanked out.

This technology offers several advantages, particularly in terms of precision, reliability and the ability to function under different environmental conditions. Long straight stretches are optimally secured with the help of this system as a preventive measure

RADAR: WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (KI) AND DOME CAMERAS FOR VERIFICATION

One or more radars (90°- 120° monitored area at 500 m or 150 m range) are mounted on a stable mast at least 5 m high. The camera mast should be equipped with lightning protection and an interception rod; the radar should be connected to the overall system via fiber optics. The radar is connected to the radar server, which is also equipped with an AI module to differentiate between animals and humans (object classification). The radar offers the possibility of detecting several objects simultaneously in the monitored area and also tracking them.

The radar system must be equipped with PTZ cameras̈ . The cameras are connected to the radar unit via the video and radar server aẗ . This makes it possible to determine the exact location, direction of movement and speed of the detected target viä the radar and thus to track the target using the PTZ camera, which is controlled by the radar. The radar information is transmitted to the camera(s) in real time. The camera(s) are equipped with infrared and therefore night vision capability, with a range of up to 450 m.

When an alarm is triggered, the radar server sends the information to the video system, which immediately triggers the camera(s).

CONSTRUCTION SITE MONITORING
